Featured are Joa Baldinger’s Untitled (To Petra von Kant) 1-3, originally painted oil on copper and here sold in a limited edition of pigment ink on aluminium. Inspired by film and the theater of daily life, the images originate from the series Burning is Being in the Truest Sense. Kara Vander Weg wrote, “Baldinger’s luscious oil strokes in vibrant hues render her paintings far more tangible than film frames; they retain the essential ‘aura’ of original touch that Walter Benjamin lamented woefully lacking in mechanically reproductive techniques such as photography or film. Amidst a stream of imitative media-texted digital photographs, virtual reality games, streaming movies, and computer-generated avatars, to name a few- her paintings hijack the contemporary language of film and imbue it with the highly personal, material sense of painting. The resulting jumps, shifts, and tensions create authentically real views of the world: imperfect, frenetic, and ultimately, achingly beautiful.”

Exhibition A offers a framing option with each print. Framed prints will come with a black plexi hanger affixed to the back of each aluminum dibond print. Prints may be hung from this frame, which will "float" each work approximately 1" off of the wall.
