Influenced by time spent working at a tattoo shop in his youth, Wes Lang blends images of Native Americans, biker culture, death, Taoist texts, porn, and other American iconography in his work. Lang has had solo exhibitions at V1 Gallery (Copenhagen), ARoS Museum (Aarhus, Denmark), Half Gallery (New York), IKON Ltd (Santa Monica, CA), Chateau Marmont (West Hollywood, CA), and ZieherSmith (New York). His work is included in the permanent collections of the MoMA, the Deste Foundation (Athens), and the National Gallery of Denmark. In 2013, PictureBox released the artist’s first monograph, and his work was featured in the January/February issue of Playboy alongside Richard Prince and Cindy Sherman. The artist currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
