About the Work
Anne Neukamp visually bridges analog functionality with digital technologies through abstracted illustrative compositions that render both types of objects obsolete. Her paintings destabilize the visual cues of contemporary society – the envelope which exists universally as an email icon slips into a postal slot shaped like a puzzle piece, recalling / confusing its original usage; while the gregarious Microsoft Word paper clip descends back into stationery reality when contrasted with blood red sealing wax. Neukamp works in controlled color palettes, utilizing bright, glossy colors atop seemingly weathered backgrounds, emphasizing the disparate images sans judgement. For Eterna, Neukamp created an exclusive image for Exhibition A by collaging a black and white photocopy of a vintage magazine with an ambiguous digital element, underscoring her ability to create dominant compositions which exist in the surreal space that bridges past, present, and future.
Anne Neukamp's solo exhibition at Galerie Greta Meert opens tomorrow in Brussels. Neukamp has mounted solo exhibitions at Marlborough Contemporary (New York), Ludlow 38 (New York), Jr. Projects (Toronto), Galerija Gregor Podnar (Berlin), Greta Meert (Brussels), Galerie Chez Valentin (Paris) and Kunstverein Oldenburg (Oldenburg, Germany) among others. Selected group exhibitions include Mitchell-Innes & Nash (New York), Künstlerhaus Palais Thurn und Taxis (Bregenz, Austria), Neue Galerie Gladbeck (Gladbeck, Germany), Lucien Terras Gallery (New York), Lisa Cooley (New York), KW Institute for Contemporary Art (Berlin) and KAI 10 Arthena Foundation (Dusseldorf). Born in 1976 (Düsseldorf, Germany), Anne Neukamp currently lives and works in Berlin.
Authentication & Resale
This work is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed and numbered by the artist.
Be sure to keep your Certificate of Authenticity (COA) in a safe place. We are unable to replace or reissue COAs.
Framed artwork is custom framed once it is ordered. Allow 3-5 weeks for framing and delivery.
All of our frames are made from sustainably sourced engineered hardwood that is manufactured in the USA. Frames are available in Black or White Matte and Walnut.
Prints are hinged to a conservation quality, acid-free and lignin-free Cellulose matboard, using acid-free polyethylene cloth tape. Each mat’s surface paper is fade and bleed resistant and is attached to a conversation quality foam-core board. Some of our work (typically those pieces with a deckled edge) is floated on the matboard with spacers to separate the artwork from the glazing.
We use museum quality .060 mm plexiglass to frame your work. It blocks 82-85% of UV rays to prevent color fading from exposure to light, protecting your art for years to come.
Our White and Black frames have a ⅞” wide flat face and are 15/16” deep. Mats are 1” wide for prints up to 8” x 10”. Mats are 2” wide for prints larger than 8” x 10”.
Our Natural and Walnut frames have a ¾” wide flat face and are 1 ⅛” deep. Mats are 1” wide for prints up to 8” x 10”. Mats are 2” wide for prints larger than 8” x 10”.
Any artwork that is floated will be placed in a frame that has a ⅝” wide flat face and is 1 5/16” deep. Work will be floated with a 1” border around it.
