ABOUT THE WORK
Contemporary iconography gets a hit of gravitas in ceramicist Jake Clark’s body of work. Widely known for his handmade, folksy takes on memorabilia-esque vessels, Clark cleverly recasts familiar locations, brands, and media, spanning high-brow culture to low-brow mainstays. With a deftness of symbol, Clark stimulates both personal meaning and societal memory associated with the ever-present language of advertising. We are proud to have collaborated with Clark to create a ceramic sculpture edition, drawing on another type of cultural classic — the UFO. During a time when alienation has become near status-quo, the edition serves as a reminder that visual language can be playful, connective, and serve to brighten our lives.
