Karen Lederer creates intimate and eclectic still lives inspired by contemporary vernacular imagery. In Lederer's riffs on the classic still life, New York icons such as the Metropolitan Museum's blue hippopotamus and Matisse's dancers live alongside whimsical snakes, Cheetos, and taxis. The works of Juicy Fruit depict domestic settings peppered with bowls of goldfish and handful of flowers, combined with bold patterns that lend a graphic sensibility to the work.  All are monoprints created via a process of layering color, with stencils used to produce the crisp delineation of forms. 

Each piece is unique and was created by the artist in her Brooklyn, NY studio.
