Drawing influences from myriad sources ranging from cartoon characters and song lyrics to graffiti and art historical imagery, Michael Bevilacqua incorporates the everyday iconography he encounters into his mixed-media works - revealing his own cultural proclivities. Known for working in all manner of materials, Bevilacqua creates paintings, drawings, and collages that harken back to the styles of pop art and color field painting, while also updating those techniques with a contemporary flair. In Endless Summer, Bevilacqua creates a work that is reminiscent of Rothko using spray paint, effectively expanding the fundamental notions of graffiti.
Framing option is black or white painted wood, 7/8" wide flat face and 7/8" deep, with UV acrylic glass.
