ABOUT THE WORK
With each painting focusing on a singular hue, Mallory Page's body of work is a sophisticated study in perception, exploring how measured changes in color and light can affect shifts in visual understanding. Friendship is a passageway, a documentation of transition. Its centralized triangular shape mimics the doorways of ancient burial structures, symbolizing rebirth and women's rites of passage. The unique series mixes rose powder with acrylic on archival pigment print, hinting towards ritual, as well as Page's upcoming exhibition Sub Rosa.
Mallory Page has a forthcoming exhibition at Monica King Contemporary. Past solo exhibitions have been held at Wally Workman Gallery (Austin), Martine Chaisson Gallery (New Orleans), and Longview Museum of Fine Arts (Longview, TX). Select group exhibitions include presentations at Dimmitt Contemporary Art (Houston), SOCO Gallery (Charlotte, NC), and Contemporary Arts Center (New Orleans) among others. Page currently lives and works in New Orleans, LA.
