ABOUT THE WORK.
Dan Attoe’s paintings depict views of nature disrupted by the presence of humans, suggesting mysterious narratives about their relationship to these otherwise untouched settings. For Glowing River 2, Attoe has used silver ink to add text or line drawings that hint at what might be happening in the image. Upon closer inspection, subtle details reveal themselves, giving the forest and its glowing river an eerie significance.
Dan Attoe has held solo exhibitions at The Hole (New York), Peres Projects (Berlin), and Half Gallery (New York), among others. Recent group exhibitions have taken place at Western Exhibitions (Chicago), Lubeznik Center for the Arts (Indiana), and Muba Eugene Leroy (France). Attoe received his Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Iowa (2004), and currently lives and works in Washougal, Washington.
