In his landscape series, Bryce Zackery reassembles found materials like bone, chain, and driftwood into sculptural wall paintings coated in thick paint. Displaced from their original context, the objects are given new life through their placement in jigsaw-tight compositions titled after specific states in America. Having studied visual communication, television production and semiology, Zackery’s technical abilities developed from assisting craftsmen, builders, and artists of all different disciplines–including Ugo Rondinone, with whom he currently works. We think Zackery’s monochromatic landscape paintings conjure up Louise Nevelson’s iconic wall assemblages. This unique wall sculpture is 15.5" x 12" x 4.5".
