ABOUT THE WORK
We are proud to have collaborated with Delphine Desane to create To no longer think. Second act., a series of 20 hand-finished silkscreen prints. The series was made in her studio by layering acrylic and ink atop a base print, transforming the original image to create over a dozen unique narratives. This work typifies the artist's dramatic style. Her portraits of Black women with bold, assertive gazes are informed by her own experience as a Black woman, Black mother and as an immigrant living in a new country. This piece encapsulates the wisdom and strength that come from these lived experiences. The precise application of striking color and contrast commands our attention and makes this work both powerful and calming to view.
Delphine Desane (b.1988 in Paris, France) lives and works in New York. As an emerging artist, her work has quickly captured international attention. She was commissioned for the cover of Vogue Italia, which led to a solo show at the Luce Gallery in Turin, Italy. Her work has also featured in group exhibitions at E/Motion in Antwerp, Belgium; Taymour Grahne Gallery in London, UK; and CANADA in New York City, NY. Next up, Delphine is preparing for an exciting group show at MOMU - the ModeMuseum Fashion Museum in Antwerp, Belgium.
