About the Work
Jennifer Guidi is known for her hypnotic and luminescent sand paintings. Her large format canvases featuring sediment-as-medium verge on the sublime, their dizzyingly mandala-like swirls twisting outward from their center. Simultaneously evoking rigor and ease, her body of work maintains a meditative quality that emanates quintessential California minimalism. In Dusk, Dawn, Guidi employed her unique signature process for this exclusive Exhibition A edition. Using miniature colored plots of sandpaper as her base, Guidi methodically painted horizon lines from gouache and watercolor. Each piece was made by the artist in her studio.
Jennifer Guidi has held solo exhibitions at David Kordansky (Los Angeles), Long Museum (Shanghai), LACMA (Los Angeles), Frieze London, Massimo De Carlo (Paris), Gagosian (New York, Hong Kong), FIAC Paris, MOCA Los Angeles, Almine Rech Gallery (New York), Museo d'arte Contemporanea Villa Croce (Genoa), and Harper's (New York), among others. Guidi lives and works in Los Angeles.
