ARTWORK
What is a limited edition?
Editions offer an accessible way to build your art collection - and are relevant additions to budding and established collections alike. Limited editions are fine artworks - whether that’s a print, sculpture, or functional object - that are produced in a specific and restricted amount determined by the artist and the publisher. No additional artworks will ever be produced beyond the set edition number, which is why they remain valuable investment opportunities.
What is an archival pigment print?
An archival pigment print is a digital inkjet print printed with archival ink on archival paper. These museum-quality materials are guaranteed up to 90 years. An archival pigment print is not to be confused with a poster!
What is a hand-finished series?
A hand-finished series is a series of artworks that utilize the same “base print” that the artist layers on top of by hand. This creates unique variants within a singular series. Artists can use a variety of mediums to hand-finish prints - acrylic, gouache, gold flakes, spray-paint, collage, etc.
How will my print be framed?
Framing options vary for each piece. These options are listed on individual product pages.
Are the artists involved in production?
Yes! We work directly with artists to create exclusive editions that accurately reflect their larger body of work. Additionally, each artist personally reviews and approves their final edition. We love the collaborative process and are in constant dialogue with today’s most compelling contemporary artists to see how we can honor and expand their practice!
How do I know that my Exhibition A edition is authentic?
Please refer to the individual artwork page to verify how your work is authenticated. Our newer editions are generally signed, marked, or numbered on the work itself by the artist, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) signed by Exhibition A. Many of our older editions (2018 and earlier) are not signed on the work itself, but rather accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity that has been signed and numbered by the artist. (So be sure to keep your COA in a safe place!) Certain items that we did not produce including original artwork and Andy Warhol’s Art Cash (Ones) do not come with a COA. If you would like clarification regarding how an edition is signed, please check the individual artwork page for specifications or email info@exhibitiona.com with the title of the piece you are interested in and our team will be happy to help. We also recommend that you keep your order confirmation email for your records.
I lost my Certificate of Authenticity. Can you provide me with a replacement?
Unfortunately, we cannot replace lost or damaged Certificates of Authenticity.
Quick tip: ask your framer to affix the COA to the back of the frame so you don't lose track of it!
Do editions ever sell out?
Yes! Editions have been known to sell out immediately following launch. See our next answer about how to stay in the loop.
How do I get notified about edition launches?
We launch new editions directly to our email subscribers and through our Instagram. Sign up for our mailing list here and follow our Instagram feed to stay updated with the best contemporary art editions launches on the market!
If I buy an edition, do I own the copyright?
No. The copyright is not transferred to the purchaser of the edition.
SHIPPING
When will my order ship?
Production time varies by edition and the specifics of your order. For example, unframed prints typically ship within 5 business days, while framed prints typically ship within 2-4 weeks. Please note that our business hours are Monday through Friday. Orders are not processed or shipped on Saturday or Sunday.
How will my order be packaged?
Unframed prints are wrapped in archival wrapping. Based on dimensions and medium, they either ship flat or in a cardboard tube. Framed prints are encased within paper/bubble wrap and cushioned with cardboard corners. In either case, your new artwork is a piece of fine art! Please take extra care when removing your print from its wrapping!
How much does shipping cost?
Cost depends on the shipping method, dimensions, and weight of your new artwork, as well as the ship-to destination. All hand-finished and original work ships insured. We ship via FedEx unless otherwise noted on the artwork listing. All shipping costs can be calculated prior to checkout before confirming your order. Please note shipping method does not affect turnaround times! Consult individual product pages for specific turnaround times.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship internationally via FedEx. International orders are subject to customs duties, which are set by the government of the destination country. All applicable customs fees, taxes, and duties are the sole responsibility of the customer; these fees are due upon arrival and are in addition to the cost of artwork and shipping and handling. We cannot discount customs duties or reimburse you for these costs.
How do you declare goods for international orders?
Depending on the nature of the piece, we declare all shipments as limited edition artwork or original artwork at the price of the work being shipped. We cannot mark your shipment as a gift.
Is my order insured during shipping?
All hand-finished and original work is insured during shipping. If you work arrives damaged, we ask that you notify us immediately, but no later than 5 business days of receipt. After this time period, our insurance policy will not cover any damage that has occurred, which means we will be unable to refund or replace damaged work.
RETURN/CANCELLATION POLICY
What is your return policy?
Our general policy is that we do not accept returns, refunds, or exchanges. If your print arrives damaged or flawed, you may be eligible for a replacement or return. Issues must be reported within 5 business days of receiving your order by emailing service@exhibitiona.com. All returns must be in perfect condition in their original packaging, and accompanied by the Certificate of Authenticity. Framed orders are non-refundable as each work is custom framed to order.
