Chason Matthams

Chason Matthams' solo exhibition, Advances, None Miraculous at Thierry Goldberg, was an Artforum's critics' pick last year. Matthams expertly renders tropes and figures of historical and pop cultural significance to create compelling non-linear narratives. Here, he presents busts of mythological figures Athena and Herakles with lifelike precision. Matthams describes his body of work as “a mind going into anxious overdrive trying to construct a narrative out of all the disparate information and random juxtapositions one is confronted with daily.”
