About the Work
The Follower by Super Future Kid is a dynamic interplay of deconstruction and creation, exploring the delicate transience of the human form. The central figure, an avatar representing the artist's personal journey into self-awareness, exudes a composed strength amidst the process of fracturing and fragmentation. This hand-finished edition of 25 pieces, hand-painted with watercolor atop archival pigment ink on Hahnemuhle hemp paper, measures 30 x 24.5 inches and invites the viewer to reflect on the fragile nature of our physical being—a temporary vessel that, over time, succumbs to the inevitable cycles of breaking down and giving way to new existence. Drawing inspiration from the cosmic event that birthed Earth's steadfast companion, the moon, The Follower is a visual homage to the lunar body's own turbulent origins from a celestial collision. The accompanying cat, representative of the moon's eternal chase, bounds alongside the figure, embodying the perpetual dance of following and being followed that defines both celestial bodies and human experience. In this artwork, Super Future Kid captures the essence of existence as a sequence of eternal rebirth, where destruction paves the path for new life, echoing our emergence from the cosmic dust of expired stars.
