JOSH JEFFERSON
In this series of work, Jefferson has created a cast of meticulously constructed characters who are at once emotive and figural while also being abstract and conceptual. The artist's bold approach to materiality and penchant for visual simplicity creates a happy tension that - to quote gallerist Scott Zieher - "is a celebration of abandon and control". Josh Jefferson has recently mounted solo exhibitions with Zevitas Marcus (Los Angeles), Steven Zevitas Gallery (Boston), Gallery 16 (San Francisco), and TURN Gallery (New York City). In 2018, he received the highest level of Artist Fellowship from the Massachusetts Cultural Council in Painting.
