Verisimilitude hides in plain sight, much like how materiality is obscured by perception and subjectivity cloaks experience. Brian Robertson’s technique — hyper-detailed acrylic on panels, rendering impressively captured scenes — screams realism but content betrays form and reality fades away in haunting grayscale. We’ve collaborated with Robertson to release Theo, a portrait from his ongoing series blending human figures, often friends and colleagues, with desert flora native to New Mexico, Robertson’s hometown, poetically illustrating the limits of knowledge and the depth of imagination.
