Sternberg's work addresses humankind within the context of a false American dream, relating freedom to consumerism and the effect of this mentality on the environment. The title references the piece's interwoven text: a poem the artist wrote to Ray Johnson about the state of the world and the view from a bridge in Sag Harbor, NY - the same bridge Johnson later jumped off of to complete his 'last performance.' Hints of gold representing synthetic wealth are painted over by a dark blue, which Sternberg describes as "the earth taking itself back, the seas rising and blue becoming a beautiful dominate presence."
Framing options are black or white painted wood, 3/4" wide flat face and 1" deep, with UV acrylic glass.
