Kika Karadi is best known for her series of paintings that was made while watching film noir - in this case, the 1934 horror flick The Black Cat. The rapidity of each session, timed to coincide with the exact running time of the selected title, is belied by the large scale and intricate textures of the surface. By compressing duration, cinematic atmosphere, and theatrical melodrama into a painting, Karadi has manifested a haunting image with a brutalist art deco feel very much in line with the film that inspired it.
Framing option is black painted wood, 3/4" wide flat face and 1" deep, with UV acrylic glass.
