ABOUT THE WORK
Elise's work is constructed using a detailed method that combines elements of painting, sculpture, and printmaking techniques. Her pieces give a sense of exacting geometry and consistency from a distance, which gives way to the handmade and artisanal when viewed more closely. This contrast provides an intense lure to the viewer, where color and texture often interact to create negative space and optical illusions. Elise says her work is inspired by a 'reverence for the purposely imperfect', something very visible in these prints.
