About the Work
"I'm interested in dissolving images and materials that evoke and describe a kind of upper-middle-class lifestyle. My materials reference things that are desired, but the making of each work necessitates a kind of crumbling or breaking down of the structure of that desire" - Francesca DiMattio
Francesca DiMattio has held solo exhibitions at Pippy Houldsworth Gallery (London), Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (North Adams, MA), Statues of Art Omi (Ghent, NY), Salon 94 Bowery (New York, NY), Blaffer Art Museum (Houston, TX), and the Zabludowicz Collection (London). Select group exhibitions include presentations at Nina Johnson (Miami, FL), the 2019 Invitational Exhibition of Visual Arts at the American Academy of Arts and Letters (New York, NY), and the Kimball Art Center (Park City, UT). The artist’s work is in the collections of the Perez Art Museum (Miami, FL), the Frances Young Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College (Saratoga Springs, NY), the Everson Museum of Art (Syracuse, NY), the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University (Waltham, MA), the Saatchi Gallery (London), and the Zabludowicz Collection.
