About the Work
Jennifer Guidi is known for her hypnotic and luminescent sand paintings. Her large format canvases featuring sediment-as-medium verge on the sublime, their dizzyingly mandala-like swirls twisting outward from their center. Simultaneously evoking rigor and ease, her body of work maintains a meditative quality that emanates quintessential California minimalism. In Dusk, Dawn, Guidi employed her unique signature process for this exclusive Exhibition A edition. Using miniature colored plots of sandpaper as her base, Guidi methodically painted horizon lines from gouache and watercolor. Each piece was made by the artist in her studio.
