About the Work
In Growth Inside the Snake, Emma Kohlmann translates a vivid dream into a tangible reality, presenting a narrative that weaves together the mystical and the natural world. This embossed archival pigment print on Hahnemühle Etching Paper, in an edition of 60, captures the textured scales of a snake in an embrace that reshapes the landscape it encircles. Conceived during the final stages of her show "Sitting by the Well" at COOPER COLE Gallery in Toronto, Canada, Kohlmann's work is an impromptu creation that echoes her dream's narrative - a snake encasing an island, its pressure birthing a meadow. This edition stands as a spontaneous yet deeply introspective piece, reflecting the artist's ability to harness her subconscious and materialize it into art that speaks of transformation and creation.
