About the Work
Jennie Jieun Lee is a Korean-American artist who uses clay and other materials to mimic and articulate emotional and psychological spaces. Lee weaves personal narratives into her ceramic sculptures to emphasize the textural accumulations of memory and the fragility of mortality. We are pleased to collaborate with the artist to release a limited series of 6 ceramic vessels made in 2020.
Jennie Jieun Lee has shown work extensively throughout the world with solo and two person shows at Martos Gallery (New York), Marlborough Contemporary: Viewing Room (New York), 11R (New York), Cooper Cole (Toronto), Galerie Lefebvre et fils (Paris), The Pit (Los Angeles), and Halsey McKay (East Hampton). Select group exhibitions include presentations at Jonathan Viner (London), Shulamit Nazarian (Los Angeles), Brand New Gallery (Milan) and many more. Jennie is a recipient of the 2017 John Simon Guggenheim fellowship and the 2019 Art Matters Grant. She currently lives and works in New York.
