Harmony Korine first rose to prominence with his script for Kids in the 1990s, and went on to direct influential and deeply experimental films like Gummo, Trash Humpers, Julien Donkey-Boy, and Spring Breakers. One of the few directors working in American cinema who is also a visual artist, Korine has had four solo shows in the span of 2014-2015 alone, including a 2014 show at Gagosian Gallery on Park Avenue entitled "Shooters." By utilizing many of the same mechanisms in his artwork as he does in his films - a pervasive gritty sensibility, the most salient - Korine's artwork becomes equally as unsettling, absurd, and exploratory.
