About the Work
With summer in full bloom, we're thrilled to announce our newest collaboration with Los Angeles based artist Caris Reid. Recently included in Taschen’s new book Plant Magick, the fourth volume by The Library of Esoterica, Caris' work is grounded in the poetic mysticism of environment, relationship, and the invisible energies of the world.
“Midnight Choir was inspired by the colorful Hollyhock flowers in Los Angeles that grow upwards towards the sky. I envision them as a connector between the physical world and non-physical realm. Each bloom a joyful, whimsical reminder of the fleeting beauty of life.”
Midnight Choir is a hand-finished series created by the artist in her Los Angeles studio. Increasingly drawn to flowers as protagonists in her paintings, Caris employs these images of natural abundance to explore themes of intimacy and connection. In Midnight Choir, stacks of Hollyhock flowers exhibit a spectral range of color underneath the same twilight sky, drawing dimension from the artist’s organic outlines, thoughtful details, and authentic emotion — all of which appears to glimmer on and beyond the paper’s surface due to the seamless contrast of Caris' painted marks atop the printed hemp fibre.
Caris Reid (b. 1983, Washington, DC) has held solo exhibitions at Over the Influence (Los Angeles), Denny Gallery (New York), and Ochi Projects (Los Angeles) among others, as well as a two-person exhibition alongside Elise Ferguson at Monya Rowe Gallery (Saint Augustine, FL). Select group exhibitions include presentations at Anat Ebgi Gallery (Los Angeles), The Landing Gallery (Los Angeles), and Sargent’s Daughters (New York). Reid lives and works in Los Angeles, California.

Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to have this work framed. Framed artwork is custom framed once it is ordered. Allow 3-5 weeks for framing and delivery.
All of our frames are made from sustainably sourced engineered hardwood that is manufactured in the USA. Frames are available in Black or White Matte and Walnut.
Prints are hinged to a conservation quality, acid-free and lignin-free Cellulose matboard, using acid-free polyethylene cloth tape. Each mat’s surface paper is fade and bleed resistant and is attached to a conversation quality foam-core board. Some of our work (typically those pieces with a deckled edge) is floated on the matboard with spacers to separate the artwork from the glazing.
We use museum quality .060 mm plexiglass to frame your work. It blocks 82-85% of UV rays to prevent color fading from exposure to light, protecting your art for years to come.
Our White and Black frames have a ⅞” wide flat face and are 15/16” deep. Mats are 1” wide for prints up to 8” x 10”. Mats are 2” wide for prints larger than 8” x 10”.
Our Natural and Walnut frames have a ¾” wide flat face and are 1 ⅛” deep. Mats are 1” wide for prints up to 8” x 10”. Mats are 2” wide for prints larger than 8” x 10”.
Any artwork that is floated will be placed in a frame that has a ⅝” wide flat face and is 1 5/16” deep. Work will be floated with a 1” border around it.
