Astronomy, astrology, and pop culture meet unexpectedly in William Eadon's Oh My Goddess, where a famous fictional icon is disguised as a mundane, distant reality. But it is precisely this distance that makes it all the more believable: "the eye sees the moon in the night sky, rather than close up or altered," says Eadon. By conflating the historic symbology of the moon — from pragmatic navigational and agricultural purposes to the occult — with more contemporary Hollywood mythology, Eadon is able to pinpoint popular media's benevolent (or sinister?) ability to guide, inspire, and influence.
