About the Work
Working from cut pieces from his limited edition print with Exhibition A, Slap Happy (2019), Josh Jefferson created a series of 10 collaged works composed of pigment prints layered on unique hand-painted backgrounds. The composition remains anchored by one of Jefferson enigmatic characters, who are at once obviously figural and irreverently not. Jefferson has recently mounted solo exhibitions with Zevitas Marcus (Los Angeles), Steven Zevitas Gallery (Boston), Gallery 16 (San Francisco), and TURN Gallery (New York City). In 2019, he received the highest level of Artist Fellowship from the Massachusetts Cultural Council in Painting.
In this series of work, Jefferson has created a cast of meticulously constructed characters who are at once emotive and figural while also being abstract and conceptual. The artist's bold approach to materiality and penchant for visual simplicity creates a happy tension that - to quote gallerist Scott Zieher - "is a celebration of abandon and control". Josh Jefferson has recently mounted solo exhibitions with Zevitas Marcus (Los Angeles), Steven Zevitas Gallery (Boston), Gallery 16 (San Francisco), and TURN Gallery (New York City). In 2018, he received the highest level of Artist Fellowship from the Massachusetts Cultural Council in Painting.

Framed artwork is custom framed once it is ordered. Allow 3-5 weeks for framing and delivery.
All of our frames are made from sustainably sourced engineered hardwood that is manufactured in the USA. Frames are available in Black or White Matte and Walnut.
Prints are hinged to a conservation quality, acid-free and lignin-free Cellulose matboard, using acid-free polyethylene cloth tape. Some of our work (typically those pieces with a deckled edge) is floated on the matboard with spacers to separate the artwork from the glazing.
We use museum quality .060 mm plexiglass to frame your work. It blocks 82-85% of UV rays to prevent color fading from exposure to light, protecting your art for years to come.
Our White and Black frames have a ⅞” wide flat face and are 15/16” deep. Mats are 1” wide for prints up to 8” x 10”. Mats are 2” wide for prints larger than 8” x 10”.
Our Natural and Walnut frames have a ¾” wide flat face and are 1 ⅛” deep. Mats are 1” wide for prints up to 8” x 10”. Mats are 2” wide for prints larger than 8” x 10”.
