In this charismatic tableaux we see Michel Piccoli as Pierre Bérard writing to Hélène, played by Romy Schneider at peak career simmer. Guy Yanai has abstracted the image into luxurious fields of color that evoke Jean Boffety’s sun-saturated, late 1960's cinematography.

Guy Yanai writes:

"This is the most important part of the film The Things of Life when the main character is writing a letter to end the relationship with his lover. The scene is actually a split second, but it obviously touched me very deeply. In the end, he never delivered the letter to her, because he died in a car crash."

Guy Yanai (b. 1977; Tel Aviv. Israel) lives and works in Tel Aviv. In addition to numerous group shows, he has had solo shows with König Galerie, Berlin, 2022; Miles McEnery Gallery, New York, 2021, 2019; Praz-Delavallade, Los Angeles, 2021, 2019, 2017; Niels Kantor Gallery, Beverly Hills, 2020; Conrads Gallery, Düsseldorf, 2020, 2018; Ameringer | McEnery | Yohe Gallery, New York, 2017, 2015; FLATLAND Gallery, Amsterdam, 2017; Galerie Derouillon, Paris, 2017, 2014; Rod Barton Gallery, Brussels, 2016; Haifa Museum of Art, Haifa, Israel, 2015.
