ABOUT THE WORK
In his text paintings, Brad Phillips delivers humorous yet haunting vignettes that navigate complex and often melancholic glimpses into the human condition. By exploring nuanced themes like hypocrisy, sex, and addiction with heartbreaking detail and subtle satire, Phillips creates an access point to otherwise uncomfortable truths.
Brad Phillips has held solo exhibitions at Harper's Apartment (New York), Allen & Eldridge (New York), Division Gallery (Toronto), and Rod Bianco Gallery (Oslo) among others. His recent two-person exhibition with Cristine Brache was held at Anat Egbi Gallery (Los Angeles). Select group exhibitions include presentations at Nino Mier Gallery (Los Angeles) curated by Olivier Zahm, Mast Books (New York) curated by Justin Adian, Galerie Sebastien Bertrand (Geneva) curated by Richard Kern, The Hole (New York) and many others. Phillips currently lives and works in Toronto.
