Understanding that language is both arbitrary and adaptive, Robert Davis imbues bold phrases taken from poetry, music, and colloquial speech with dark humor, authenticity, and irony, isolating the text visually into image. In this new gold-leafed edition, the phrase “You Win" proposes a number of possible meanings–the interpretation of which could be either a feeling of triumph or a concession of defeat. Please note each print has ash hand-applied by the artist and is silkscreened with gold leaf . Unique variants and flecks of gold intrinsic to the nature of the work.
